My cause is going to be focused on environmental awareness and advocacy. I care about this topic because of a summer class I took on environmental science and I started to develop a passion to preserve natural wildlife and go against companies and monopolies that trash communities. I am addressing problems such as pollution and climate change. I want my audience to learn more about reducing pollution through recycling and living more sustainably. I also want them to know how climate change works and the measures we can take to circumvent it. My main message is that people should become more aware of their surroundings because factors such as global warming and overfilling of trash in wastelands will greatly impact Earth.
I think that environmental awareness and having everyone understand how they affect it and it affects them is of utmost importance. I have been involved in environmental activism since I was 10 when my elementary school did a river clean up and I saw how much trash there actually was in the river, small islands of plastic. Since then I have participated in marches, rallies, and even helped create and spoke at a rally at my school. My biggest focus when it comes to environmental awareness is recycling, education, and affordability. There are recycling cans everywhere but most people don't properly know what can or can't go in them. On top of that most eco friendly products are extremely expensive due to the monopoly that plastic has on the whole world. It's a long road, but I think by spreading this message and educating communities, we become one step closer to helping our planet thrive.
